Citizens in the Datça district of Muğla were surprised by a giant tornado that formed in the sea on Sunday.

The tornado, which started off the coast of Datça at noon before the forecasted rain, was seen and caught on camera in the Kızlan District by Barış Özkan, a sound artist from Datça.

The tornado, which formed over the sea, drew seawater into the air, lasted for about 15 minutes before disappearing over the land.

Describing the moment of the tornado, Barış Özkan said, “A tornado occurred about half an hour ago off the coast of Datça. It was a massive tornado. It came to Uşaklar. I saw that it was pulling everything up from the sea for a period of 15-20 minutes and I took it on video.”
