You may have seen the opening of the new FETAV activity centre in the news earlier this week. Fethiye Times spoke with FETAV representatives to find out more about the new centre.
On 18th July 2019 FETAV (Fethiye Tourism, Promotion, Education, Culture and Environment Foundation) celebrated 25 years since the foundation of the organisation. Click on the link below for more details.
25 years of FETAV – a success story
Part of FETAV’s aim is to ensure that education is accessible to the public and they carry out various activities to achieve this, some of which you may be familiar with. Four years ago, the FETAV Children’s Choir was established and performs regularly at events. Since May 2019, the foundation has carried out Creative Drama lessons, an activity that is very popular and interest in attending the lessons continues to grow.

To enable them to carry out these activities (and more), a decision was made to look for a suitable location to set up an activity/event centre.
FETAV’s new activity centre
On Wednesday 20th December, FETAV officially opened its new activity center located on Çarşı Caddesi in Fethiye.

The centre was opened by Fethiye Governor and Head of FETAV, Muzaffer Şahiner, FETAV’s founder and former Fethiye Governor, Cengizhan Aksoy and FETAV Director Dilek Dinçer.

The event was very well attended and guests included FETAV board members, FETAV volunteers, Deputy Mayor Oğuz Bolelli, British Honorary Consul and head of the Fethiye Rotary Club, Mustafa Şıkman and many other NGO’s.

About the centre
The three-story building includes a cafe on the ground floor serving tea, coffee and delicious home made cookies, cakes and pastries. The cafe also takes orders for baked goods.
The lower ground floor houses a well-organised second hand shop offering clothing, shoes, books, bric-a-brac and more.

The top floor is the education centre where English lessons for adults and children, creative drama, choir practice and robotic and coding classes are held .

New activities planned for next year include meetings with writers and poets, seminars for businesses, and various workshops for adults.
Huge thanks go to the efforts and supports of FETAV volunteers.
Please note: The FETAV office in the Kaymakamlığı building (next door to the PTT) is still open for business as usual.
