Fethiye Bowling Association
Thank you to June Waddell Hall for the update.
The FBA season has well and truly started again, with both the Men’s and Ladies’ Singles competitions taking place in October.
The Men’s Singles was held on 10/11 October with Pat Casey beating Peter Summerhill to take the trophy.
The Ladies Singles was held two weeks later on 24/25 October. The final was between June Waddell Hall and Bev Tomkys with June taking the trophy.
Two lovely competitions, held in true FBA good spirit and sportsmanship. Well done to all competitors in both competitions and thanks to Mandy Whettam for the organisation.
New “Music Time” group for under 5’s
When local resident, Kathy Moore became a Nanna, she noticed that there was a distinct lack of play groups for under 5’s in Fethiye.
Research shows pre-school activities benefit both children and their parents. Regular group activities support children’s social development, ease the transition to school. They also provide an opportunity for parents to socialise with other parents and share knowledge sharing and learnings.
As the children don’t start school until the age of 6, Kathy decided to do something about it.
On Thursday (31 October) the first “Music Time” group took place on a grassy area of the promenade, next to Denizatı Restaurant.
Fethiye Times went along to talk to Kathy and enjoy an hour watching the children (and the mums and grandparents) have fun.
Kathy told us, “We arranged a lovely morning get together along the kordon for our “Music Time” group. It was very well supported and we had about 10 mums with their little ones. We started with the “Welcome Song” including all the children’s names followed by Baby Shark and other songs and as a finale we got the parachute out. Most of the children were very excited, some were a bit worried sit was the first time they had seen the parachute! They all thoroughly enjoyed dancing along, including the parents! We will continue on a weekly basis next to Denizatı whilst the weather is good. If you have children aged 5 and under, come along and socialise your little ones.”
The next “Music Time” is on Thursday 7th November at 11.30am
Remembrance Day Service
There will be a Remembrance Day Service held on Sunday 10th November. The assembly point is outside Hisarönü Belediyesi at 10:30am (local time) for those wishing to take part.
