Parachute Pilot hanging on pole
The 20th International Öiüdeniz Fethiye Air Games was the scene of colorful shows and acrobatic displays last week.
For one paragliding enthusiast, the landing didn’t go quite as planned when his parachute snagged on a power pole leaving the pilot balancing on the pole for half an hour whilst he waited to be rescued.

British Airways launches direct flights to Antalya for summer 2020
British Airways has announced the launch of flights between London Gatwick and Antalya, Turkey.
The summer route, which will operate on an Airbus A320 and run six times a week, will commence services on April 30, 2020, and was available to book from Tuesday (15 October).
Adam Carson, British Airways’ Managing Director of Gatwick, said: ‘Holiday makers can look forward to another option when flying to Turkey with British Airways next summer. After months in the planning, we are excited to announce the addition of Antalya to our network from Gatwick. We are committed to offering flights and holidays to a wide variety of destinations at competitive prices to help people get their travel plans off the ground.’
The Antalya announcement comes as the airline adjusts its Gatwick schedule for Summer 2020. The new route to Turkey complement a summer Gatwick service to Dalaman and year-round flights between Istanbul and Heathrow.
Court asks booking.com to make changes to lift ban
A court in Istanbul has ruled that the online hotel reservation website booking.com had violated rules by engaging in unfair competition practices.
The 5th Commercial Court said if the conditions which created unfair competition are removed and the company makes a payment of 500,000 Turkish Liras (around $86,000) then the ban imposed on the company’s website could be lifted.
The court ruled that booking.com avoided paying taxes even though it operates like a travel agency and it did not seek permission to formally establish a company.
An Istanbul court on March 29 ordered the suspension of the activities of booking.com in Turkey, citing accusations of unfair competition, following a lawsuit filed by the Association of Turkish Travel Agencies (TÜRSAB).
The website, which had around 13,000 hotel members from Turkey, halted selling rooms in Turkey to Turkish users on March 30, one day after the court decided to block the website in the country.
