Are you getting married in Turkey this year?
Fethiye Times hopes to share brief reports of weddings held in the area this summer – particularly those involving British nationals – and has invited wedding planners to submit details for publication.
Here are two we received this week:
Mancini – Swinbourne
The S3 Sea Horse Beach at Ölüdeniz was the setting for the wedding of Kirsty Mancini and Graham Swinbourne from Gravesend on Monday.
Graham – a painter and decorator – met Kirsty 22 years ago and the couple have four children – Cameron, Louis, Kasey and Lilly-Ann. However, they decided the time was right to confirm their partnership through marriage and chose a venue inspired by Kirsty’s mother Anne who always wanted them to say their vows in Turkey.
The bride was given away by Ian Orsbourn and best man at the ceremony was Lewis Orsbourn, who both acted as witnesses. Lewis was assisted in his duties by the couple’s sons Cameron and Louis, who acted as the ring-bearers.
The bride was attended by matron of honour Chantelle Habib-Shahed, her daughters Kasey and Lilly-Ann, bridesmaids Elise Habib-Shahed, flower girls Arianah Habib-Shahed, Anne-Marie Orsbourn and Nancy Mancini and pageboys Albert and Arthur Mancini.
The ceremony and reception afterwards at Sea Horse Beach was arranged by Eken Weddings Turkey.
Taylor – Gunby
Failsworth couple Steven Gunby and Lisa Taylor were married yesterday at Günay’s Garden and Izela Restaurant in Kayaköy – a location they visited and fell in love with on holiday three years ago.
The couple chose a passage from Captain Corelli’s Mandolin as a reading during the ceremony – a book by author Louis de Berniere, who also wrote Birds Without Wings, which was inspired by the history of the village and its ghost town, which dates back a century.
The bride is the daughter of Lynda Brazier and Stuart Taylor of Manchester, while the groom is the son of Tom and Chris Gunby, also from Manchester.
The bride was assisted by matron of honour Dianne Day – who also acted as a witness – bridesmaids Kate Atkins, Beth Atkins, Tilly Gunby, Olivia Pike and pageboy Thomas Pike. The reading was given by Beth Atkins.
Best man and second witness was Hitesh Patel while the bride was given away by her mother, Lynda.
Steven is a contract manager in IT while Lisa works as an income officer in social housing.
A reception at Izela Restaurant followed the ceremony, which was arranged by Günay’s Garden and Kayleigh Eken of Eken Weddings Turkey.
