Armistice Day at Fethiye Bowling Association
Last weekend, Fethiye Bowling Association (FBA) held it’s annual Remembrance Day competition. 37 entrants competed in 35 games over the three-day event which culminated in the semi-finals and final on Remembrance Sunday.
Before the finals, FBA held a moving Remembrance Day ceremony which was attended by some 60 people, both club members, their families, and visitors. The ceremony, which was led by former Armed Forces members Bob Greening and Jan Stagg, took place at exactly 14:00 to coincide with the 11:00 ceremony at the Cenotaph in London. It included readings from Jan and Bob, ending with the playing of The Last Post and a two-minute silence.
After the ceremony, Mick Manser and Rob Tomkys competed in the final. It was a final worthy of the day and resulted in a victory for Mick. The final score was 21-20. An excellent game and congratulations to both players who excelled themselves.
