Fire swept through a house in Köyceğız earlier this week, leaving Susan Demir and 85 dogs, for which she provides shelter, homeless.
Susan was inside the house with most of her dogs when the fire broke out in the early hours. She managed to get all of the dogs to safety apart from two, who are still missing.
Susan has lost everything she owned in the fire and the house itself is beyond repair. The roof collapsed and windows burst. Only the brick walls remain.
Susan needs to be on site to continue to be with the dogs who rely on her for protection and care.
She is now living in a shed made of old planks and doors.
It isn’t weather proof and is damp, draughty and cold. There is no proper heat or furniture. Susan also lost all her personal belongings in the fire, including her clothes.
How can you help?
Susan’s house needs rebuilding and in the meantime, she needs habitable, temporary accommodation/cabin on site.
The dogs need food, plastic beds and blankets. (Susan has now had a soba donated)
