Parachutist injured while base jumping at Butterfly Valley
Dutch parachutist Petter Blocker (39), was seriously injured whilst base jumping at Butterfly Valley in Faralya on Friday.
Petter is one of 13 competitors taking part in the Butterflies Base Cup which started on Thursday.
The competitors base jump from the 330m high cliff and free fall for 100m before opening their parachutes. Petter’s parachute caught on a rock and he crashed into the cliffs. He managed to support himself by jamming his feet into a crevice in the rocks.
Petter was rescued by UMKE and Search and Rescue in a three-hour operation. He was then taken to hospital where he received treatment for injuries to his right arm and leg.

Blackpool man dies in Turkey a day after ‘pub fight’
A murder investigation has been launched after a man died on holiday in Turkey the day after he was allegedly involved in a fight at a pub.
Simon Marx, 42, died suddenly in Fethiye, Turkey, on Sunday after travelling there from Blackpool the previous night.
Police believe he was involved in an “altercation” between two groups of men at the Newton Arms pub on Saturday.
Four men have been arrested on suspicion of murder.
Three of the suspects, aged 29, 54 and 29, were released until November while a fourth man, 58, was released pending further inquiries.
Det Ch Insp Andy Cribbin the death was being treated as “unexplained” and Lancashire Police was in touch with authorities in Turkey.

Holiday maker stabbed twice during break in
A family staying in Hisarönü, had their holiday ruined when a man broke into their villa during the early morning of 9 October.
The family’s 18-year-old and nine-year-old sons were asleep on the sofa bed downstairs when the man pried open the kitchen window and entered the villa, stealing valuables and money.
The intruder was about to go upstairs in search of further valuables when the 18-year-old son awoke.
An altercation took place during which the man stabbed the son twice with a knife he had taken from the kitchen.
The emergency services were called however the man got away, dropping the family’s belongings as he fled.
He is described as slimly built, about 75kgs and 180cms and was wearing black gloves, a balaclava, dark grey jeans and a dark grey long jumper.
The son was taken to hospital where he received treatment for his injuries.
Yaşam İçin Yarış (Race For Life) 2017
Sunday 15th October was the big day and Yaşim İçin Yarış finally took place.
Approximately 250 people took part in the race, among them the new Kaymakam (Fethiye District Governor), Muzzafer Şahiner, who turned up, in trainers and joggers, registered (No: 25) and joined in.

18th International Fethiye Ölüdeniz Air Games 17-22 October 2017
500 parachute pilots from 20 countries will participate in the 18th International Fethiye Ölüdeniz Air Games to be held between 17-22 October.
The Air Games Festival will begin at 11.00 on Tuesday, October 17 and includes paragliding displays and acrobatics, and many more activities.

Fethiyespor lost their away match against Altay in İzmir on Saturday evening. The final score was 1-2.
Fethiyespor were 1-0 up at half-time with a goal scored in the first few minutes of the game. Altay went on to score an equaliser in the second half followed by the winning goal in the final seconds of the game
Fethiyespor have now dropped one place to 14th position on the league table.
The next league matches are:
Saturday 21st October at home against Ottocool Karagümrük. Kick-off is at 19:00
Sunday 29th October away against Konya Anadolu Selçukspor. Kick-off is at 14:30.
Ziraat Cup matches:
Fethiyespor will play Adanaspor from Lig 1 in the Ziraat Cup at home on Tuesday 24th October. Kick-off is at 19:00.
