Flying a kite on a windy day is great fun! If there’s a breeze in the air it’s time to head for a big open space. Or in this case, Fethiye’s main square, Beşkaza, where a Kite Festival was held on Friday 10th June.
Kites dancing and soaring
The weather was just right; sunny with a nice sea breeze, perfect for making the kites dance and soar!
People of all ages came along with their kites of many types and colours.
Kite flying is much easier with two people; one to hold the kite and one to RUN!!

The event was watched over by a sight we are all familiar with, the imposing staute of Ataürk holding the hand of little girl.
World Environment Week
The Kite Festival was one of the events organised as part of World Environment Week and was attended by the
Environmental Protection and Control Directorate who were giving out information about the environment and recycling.
Don’t forget to re-cycle your plastic bottles!
The Ministry of Health were also there with information about healthy living; from healthy eating to exercising for a happy life.
