A successful Christmas Fayre for Animal Care Uzumlu
On Saturday 1st December, ACU (Animal Care Uzumlu) held their annual Christmas Fayre at the Cadianda Restaurant in Üzümlü.
A number of stalls selling a wide range of locally made handcrafts helped to raise a magnificent 3248tl.
The homemade cake stall proved to be very popular and more or less sold out of savouries and cakes.
Handmade jewellery, woodturned bowls, dastar, crochet, woodcraft and preloved clothing were all represented during the day.
Eddie O’Coullon, aka Santa, made his final appearance for ACU before he moves to a new life in Bulgaria. ACU and Eddie’s friends all wish him Bon Voyage and hope he keeps in touch with us.
The Cadianda staff looked after everyone providing what seemed to be a bottomless bowl of mulled wine. A beautiful sunny day meant many visitors could take advantage of the Cadianda Garden and order lunches and enjoy the warmth of the day.
The Christmas Scratchcard was won by Sandy Bliss-Ewens. Raffle tickets for a Christmas Hamper were on sale and the draw will take place at the Christmas Quiz on 19th December which will be hosted by the Uzumlu Winehouse.
ACU would like thank all the stall holders but more importantly, the visitors for making this event a success. Without your support ACU would not have the funds to treat sick or injured animals or run the Dog & Cat parks. Also funds are used provide the street animals with food and, when necessary, for neuter and return.
Thank you to Dave Roue for the update and photographs.
