Now that summer has finally decided to grace us with it’s presence (what took you so long), you might be thinking about getting your body bikini, or mankini, ready.

As you are probably aware, gyms and yoga studios are popping up all over the place but did you know that there are a wide variety of other classes available too? All run in English for those of you who haven’t yet fully got to grips with the Turkish language.

These include:

Fethiye and Çalış Bellycise and HIIT Group for women

Mondays 9.30am 

Bellycise with an optional walking HIIT (High Intensity Interval Training) session beforehand (starting at 8.45am).

Thursday’s 8.30am

A longer walking HIIT session.

Step Aerobics

Mondays & Fridays 10.30am (winter time only)

Step aerobics, advertised on Facebook’s ‘Fethiye Area ExPat Zone’ prior to classes starting as venue may change year to year.

Monday’s 9.30am – Cardio based HIIT

Thursday’s 9.30am – Light weight based HIIT

Friday’s 9.30am – Step Aerobics

Wednesday’s 9.30am – Aqua Aerobics (summer only)

He and his team offer a wide variety of fitness classes including bootcamp, afrosise, box fit, body combat and private boxing lessons – please see below for a list of classes, locations and times. Please note that times do change throughout the year to make the most of the cooler weather.

Berkay himself also runs personal training sessions either at a local gym or in our lovely new park. Alternatively he can work out a training programme for you if you wish to go it alone. And it doesn’t end there – if, like me, you think a packet of crisps is an adequate evening meal, he can also advise on nutrition and come up with a meal plan to help you reach your diet and fitness goals.

After undertaking all this hard work I’m guessing you’d probably fancy a massage? Well, don’t worry, Berkay can help out there too.

Sian Midgley moved to Fethiye from the UK in 2013. She’s previously been involved with 3Cs, Animal Aid (now Hayed) and the Çatalarık Kedi Evi. Now she jointly runs the Sustainable Living in Fethiye Facebook page where people ask questions and give advice on how to live a more environmentally friendly lifestyle.Having discovered a love of the outdoors in recent years, more often than not, you’ll find her cycling or walking around the local villages or participating in various fitness classes.
