Unregistered Mobile Phones Turned Off Today

As of Today, only those subscribers with a registered phone and account will be able to access the Turkish mobile phone networks.

Turk Telecom had planned to turn off all unregistered mobile phones on 14 December 2005 but that was postponed until an undisclosed date in 2006.

However that date has now come - without warning we might add. As of Today, only those subscribers with a registered phone and account will be able to access the Turkish mobile phone networks.

Turkcell, Telsim and Avea will all turn off all unregistered mobile phones, as the final stage of a government program to licence and tax all of the country’s mobile phones.
