The waiting is almost over for private sellers, estate agents, developers and land owners who have been unable to sell their land and property to foreigners since July this year as the government announces its new bill is almost ready.

Finance Minister Kemal Unakitan said that changes to the new bill are almost complete and they will be passed to Parliament for appproval shortly. It was stated that the reason for the delay was due to Parliament’s summer recess

The law was cancelled in by the Constitutional Court on 15 March 2005. They gave the Turkish Government 3 months to put a new law in place. They were unable to do that so all sales to foreigners were suspended in August. Deeds offices will no doubt have large backlogs to deal with when the final say so is given.
