The Turkish state metrological service has issued a weather warning of heavy rain and gusty winds for many regions of Turkey over the next few days.

A deep weather depression will move over the north of Greece, Bulgaria, the Aegean Sea and into Turkey. It will bring with it heavy rain, thunderstorms and gusty winds.

Further south rain, thunderstorms and gusty winds are expected from Monday onwards with the heaviest downpours on Tuesday afternoon/evening.

Forecasters have warned that local conditions can be more extreme than the general forecast and people should be aware of the risk of landslides and or local flooding.

The weather front is expected to clear the south of Turkey during Wednesday.
