The warm, settled weather of November gave way yesterday evening when heavy rain and thunder returned to the area and continued today causing localised flooding.

Frequent heavy showers continued during today peaking around 5:30pm when a storm brought lightening, thunder, torrential rain and hail lashing down on the town and surrounding villages.

According to local news reports the storm flooded the street outside the Hayal Cinema in downtown Fethiye trapping cinema goers and prevented them from leaving the building until the water subsided a while later.

The unsettled spell of weather is due to continue through until the end of the weekend according to the latest weather forecasts.

Absent property owners should ensure they get their places checked regularly over the winter, and especially after stormy weather, to ensure they don’t return to water damaged properties next year.
