Two local ladies recently competed in a half marathon and raised over 1,800 TL for local childrens charity the Calis based 3c’s.

The two energetic ladies, Pat Meldrum of Yesil Uzumlu and Renate Koker of Fethiye, took part in “Runtalya”, the 9th International ÖGER Antalya Half Marathon, on 2 March – a distance of 21.0975 kms.

The two ladies, who ran to raise money for Çalış Children’s Charity (the 3C’s), raised a magnificent 1,890 TL for the charity – the equivalent of providing two annual university bursaries for poor students to attend university.

In addition, Pat raised a significant amount of money from her family and supporters back in UK for Macmillan nurses so another great result

Both ladies enjoyed the race which followed the beautiful Antalya coastline from the city to Lara Beach.

Renate came in first in her age section with a great time of 2.05 hours. Pat, running in a different age section closely followed, finishing in 2.08 hours.

Last week the ladies handed over their sponsorship money to the charity and 3C’s Chairman Peter Clark thanked them and presented them with framed certificates of thanks from the charity.
