Pool to Skating Rink
The Arctic temperatures brought by the north wind continued to feature in the local news at the beginning of the week.
A Hisaronu hotel manager was photographed standing by the hotel swimming pool which was covered in thick ice.
The manager told the press he’d never seen thick ice on a swimming pool in Hisaronu before.
His children were interviewed as part of the report.
The nine-year-old said it’s amazing in the summer I swim in this pool and now in the winter I can walk about on top of it.
Tractor Crash Kills One
A 55 year old farmer was killed when his tractor overturned on a steep hill outside of Seydikemer.
Blaze Destroys Wood Yard
Fethiye Industrial Estate
A fire broke out in a lumberyard on Fethiye industrial estate a week ago last Sunday night.
The fire is reported to have spread to adjoining properties including a residential property.
Fethiye Fire crews were joined by reinforcements called in from surrounding areas including Ciftlik, Karachula, Oludeniz and also the Forestry Fire service crews and trucks.
The teams took five hours to bring the flames under control such was the intensity of the fire.
The fire was finally brought under control by 6:30 am on Monday morning and fire crews remained on site to dampen down until midday.
Four people were injured due to smoke inhalation. Four work units and a residential property were also damaged by the fire.
An investigation to find the source of the fire is now underway.
The Fethiyespor away match against Eskisehir as part of the Ziraat Cup was postponed due to a power fault that extinguished the flood lights. The match was replayed the following afternoon and Fethiye lost 3-0.
The next league match is Boluspor v Fethiyespor on 22 December 2013 Kick off at 13:30.
FethiyeSpor are now 17th out of the 19 teams in the PTT1 League with 12 points after 16 matches. The score sheet for the 16 games played to date is 3 wins, 3 draws and 10 lost.
The Turkish Lira ended the week at 3.41TL to the British Pound. Last week it was 3.26 TL. One Turkish Lira is now worth 29 Pence.
