It was a busy day for fund raisers on Thursday 10th October with a morning and afternoon of innovative and fun events.

Rip Off

Pain really did mean gain for 3C’s member Graham Whitaker when he was body waxed to raise money for his charity.

Brave Graham undertook his painful hair-raising ordeal in public at the Ceren Hotel in Çalış as a finale to the charity’s very successful Autumn Coffee Morning and Fashion Show and he raised over 1000TL in sponsorship.

There was a scramble for front row seats as local resident and former beautician Karen Dutton, set up her waxing equipment and a cocky Graham took his place centre stage.

Seconds later his smile and bravado was replaced with gritting teeth and a grimace as he laid back and grinned and bared it – but all to help the children

Throughout the morning, the 3C’s stalls were very busy selling a wide range of jewelery, hand knitted items and gifts as well as their new 2014 calendars and charity bags.

Busiest and most popular was the cake stall which netted over 1,000 TL selling a delicious selection of homemade cakes and sausage rolls – there were only a few crumbs left! There was also a very popular tombola and raffle.

A special treat for music lovers were two very well received performances by the Côr Merched Cantabile Welsh Ladies Choir from Anglesey in North Wales.

The ladies, led by choir mistress Linda Griffith, who were holidaying in Çalış, performed a variety of both serious and light hearted music as well as playing the hand bells.

In the afternoon, the charity staged their second 3C’s Charity Shop Fashion Show featuring their new Autumn/Winter season collection of quality clothes and accessories from the shop.

Turn to the Left

Committee members, volunteers and friends “strutted their stuff” on the catwalk modeling some great daytime outfits and evening wear and the very professional event, expertly compered by fashion guru George “Gok Wan” Rimmer finaled with a wedding procession.

All of the outfits modeled went on sale in the 3C’s shop the next day.

Bottom Line

The popular seasonal event raised over 3,500 TL which will go towards funding worthwhile projects for children in the Fethiye/ Çalış area.

The 3C’s would like to thank the Ceren Hotel and everyone who took part either by modeling, performing, helping in the background or on the stalls or supported the event by baking cakes, donating goods to sell or by just turning up and having a good time.
