The restoration of the Fethiye antique theatre continues and we have added some more pictures to our continuing article.
The 4.5 million TL project to restore the antique theatre in Fethiye started during October 2012. The picture below shows the site information sign.
The picture below shows the site after a few weeks of work.
Roll forward to January 2013 and we can see some progress has been made.
As readers who live in/visit Karagözler will know, the road has been rerouted so that it now is alongside the sea leaving the old road to be subsumed within the new restored theatre area.
Our photo shows the new road which diverges from the old one at the ‘palm tree roundabout’ and rejoins the original route at the Tourist Information office.
And here’s what the theatre looked like at the end of January 2013 with the old road now part of its ‘grounds’.
And now to October 2013 and we see some more work has taken place with construction of one of the walls underway.
And below we can see the stones for wall waiting to be placed.
There still seems to be some way to go until this project is finished. But then Rome wasn’t built in a day.
Project is likely to finish by the end of summer 2014.
