FethiyeSpor Celebrates New Season

A crowd of 5,000 gathered in Fethiye last night to celebrate the local football team Fethiyespor who will enter into the PTT division 1 this season.

The event included live music, dancing and singing.

Later in the evening the football clubs new merchandise store was also opened.

In July the team signed their first foreign player 20 year-old Patrick Etoga from Cameroon.

Holiday Crash- Seven Injured

Fethiye-Oludeniz Road

Seven people were injured in a head on collision between two vehicles on Friday evening on the Fethiye – Oludeniz Road.

Emergency services had to cut some of the passengers from the vehicles.

They also had to contend with a large crowd of onlookers who were curious to watch the whole event.

This is the second head on collision in two weeks on this road.


Tourists Flock to Area for Three Day Holiday

Ramadan, the holy month of fasting and celebration, ended last week and all of Turkey started a 3 day public holiday.

The press reported that the roads, beaches and hotels were all packed as holiday makers headed for local resorts from all over Turkey.

It was reported that at one stage the roads in and around Oludeniz were paralysed due to the sheer volume of traffic.

The press also said that hotels had reached 90% occupancy.
