Four Injured in Head on Collision

Fethiye – Oludeniz Highway

Four people were injured and two vehicles written off after a head on collision on the Fethiye-Oludeniz road.

The accident occurred around 3pm on Tuesday and a large crowd of onlookers gathered to witness the wreckage and efforts of the emergency services.

One of the vehicles, a Renault Kangoo Taxi, had buckled as a result of the impact trapping the occupants inside the vehicle.

Members of the crowd assisted the ambulance crews to free the driver and passenger and help extract them from the vehicle.

The other vehicle involved in the collision, a black Ford Focus, also sustained significant damage but the main cabin did not buckle enabling the occupants to escape.

Police who arrived at the scene to investigate the incident spoke with a British National who had witnessed the incident from his hire car.

Police investigations continue.

Canyon Cash In

Saklikent, Fethiye

A holiday to Fethiye, Kas or Kalkan would be incomplete without a visit to the amazing ‘must-see’ natural attraction of Saklıkent Gorge, or Saklıkent Kanyon in Turkish (Pronounced Sack-luh-kent in Turkish).

The canyon is operated by Fethiye Tourism Association (FETAB) and they published a raft of figures last week at a meeting in Fethiye.

In the first 7 months of the year the canyon generated 725,000 TL

There were 110,000 full paying visitors and they generated 595,000 TL from admission fees;

There were 31,000 student discount entries and they generated 84,000 TL

The cafe, car park and toilets raised the balance.

The vast majority of that income would have been generated in the main tourist months May, June and July.

Cash Pledged for Better Facilities

Fethiye

FETAB also announced last week that 5 TL million has been allocated to the Oludeniz area for improvements and upgrades to roads, sewage treatment and water supplies.

The works will begin at the end of the tourist season
