Blue Card Waste Water Controls – Pilot Begins
Fethiye – Gocek
It was reported in the local press that a pilot scheme to control the discharge of foul water from vessels into the seas around Fethiye, Gocek and Oludeniz started last week.
The Blue Card system as it is known will track the proper disposal of foul water from registered vessels and identify if waste may have been released at sea.
Pumping out points have been made available in Fethiye and Gocek and the report says there are 34 pump out points in total.
Each time a vessel empties its holding tanks at a proper location using the blue card the information will be automatically updated on an official website of the Ministry of the Environment.
