The 3c’s charity shop located beneath the Eyna restaurant on Calis Beach near Fethiye has been doing a roaring trade. First set up in September 2011 by a group of socially minded expats the shop has gone from strength to strength.
However, the shop is now very short of bric-a-brac and is sending out an appeal for generous souls to donate such items.
But What is Bric-a-Brac?
Bric-à-brac or Bric-a-brac is a word of French origin that used in the Victorian era in Britain. It was used to describe items used as ornaments displayed in glass cabinets, shelves and even set out on window sills or tables.
Bric-a-brac could also form collections of curiosity such as porcelain thimbles, vases, compositions of flowers under glass domes, decorated eggshells, porcelain figurines, painted miniatures or photographs in stand-up frames.
Now days the term refers to a selection of items of modest value often sold in street markets.
