The development of the third and final phase of the promenade in Fethiye, Turkey continues with the new road and paths now under construction.
Fethiye Promenade Phase 3 Under Construction – January 2013
What was once a waste land is now being transformed into a great public space. It is the third and final stage of the ‘Prestige Fethiye Kordon Project’ and is a whopping 1.7km long. When it is completed it will include cycle and jogging paths, sports facilities, 5 restaurants and cafes and a new small harbour for samll pleasure boats.
A total of 466 trees will be planted and when it’s all done the entire promenade will stretch from Fethiye town centre all the way to the beach resort of Çalış. That will offer the possibility of a 4.5km flat cycle or walk from downtown Fethiye all the way with lots of nice places to have a rest and a drink en-route. If you walk you can take a local bus service back from where you started.
The block paving of the new road, car parks and paths is under way.
All the powerlines are being taken down and the cables are being laid underground. That should improve the view of the fantastic Fethiye bay.
They may look like railway lines but they are just the path edging. The central path will be a continuation of the very popular rubber coated walking path. Walking for fitness is a very popular keep-fit pass time in Fethiye.
And then we arrive at the new fisherman’s harbour the subject of another article – see link below.
