Local press headed to Üzümlü this week to interview 65-year-old Hüseyin Türkmen who wears a crash helmet whilst driving his tractor.

He told press that just like riding motorbikes and scooters, tractor drivers aren’t protected by any form of structure, so it makes sense for him to wear a helmet.

He also said he thought young men who rode bikes and scooters without helmets were stupid.

He could find himself a poster boy in the Traffic Police’s next helmet campaign.

These range from youngsters learning to play instruments, to adults mastering the art of kilim (carpet) weaving.

The teachers gave the Governor gifts they had made for him, and everyone had a good time.

The Governor said he was very proud of the Cultural Centre’s participation in the national Turkish trip to Paris late last year, and he also confessed he would like to learn how to create ebru – paper marbling.
