Organisers of the 13th Ölüdeniz International Air Games are expecting hundreds of pilots from all over the world and also closer to home. The event is great for spectators so make sure you add this event to your diary.

The 2012 Air Games will run from 19th to 23rd October.

A press conference was held a few days ago to announce details of the Games which will, we are told, be bigger and better than ever this year.

The organisers are expecting around 600 pilots from 55 countries bringing a decidedly cosmopolitan feel to this annual end of season event.

And, best of all as far as we are concerned, the Turkish Air Force’s equivalent of the Red Arrows, known as the Turkish Stars, will be performing their daredevil stunts to close the Games.

We were lucky enough to watch them the last time they were here a couple of years ago, and can only say they are definitely not to be missed.

And if you want to watch from the beach, as we did and hope to do again, set out early to avoid the traffic jam getting down there. And be aware that any performance times will be approximate!

We’ll tell you about times and any other particularly interesting events during the Games nearer to the time.
