The 3rd stage of the extension to the Fethiye promenade is currently under construction and, of course, is another Prestige Project.
One development in Fethiye that we applaud heartily, is the creation of the promenade around the Bay.
When we first came here (not all that long ago), it was a waste land and now has given rise to the open air cafes with live music on summer evenings, lots of children’s play and public gym equipment, along with the rubberised jogging/power walking track.
We think it is an excellent example of how a local authority can truly enrich the lives of its residents.
And it is still growing.
The 3rd stage is currently under construction and, of course, is another Prestige Project.
The Councils says in its recent publication:
‘In 1999 this was waste ground and no-one thought it would ever become a promenade, which has played a great part in raising Fethiye’s image within the locality and across the country as a whole.”
The 3rd and final stage is a whopping 1.7km long and when completed it will include cycle and jogging paths, sports facilities, 5 restaurants and cafes.
A total of 466 trees will be planted and when it’s all done the entire promenade will stretch to Çalış, offering readers who live there the possibility of a 4.5km walk from downtown Fethiye all the way home. With lots of nice places to have a rest and a drink en route.
As ever there is no completion date but, to be fair to the Belediye, it included this project under the heading “In-fill completed for 3rd stage of promenade” which, as you can see from the first image, is entirely true.
