Çalış Children’s Charity and the Çalış Beach Forum have joined forces to help the Bozalan village school near Saklikent.

Earlier this year we reported that the 3C’s had contributed 6,000 TL towards the cost of roof repairs at Bozalan school, a poor village school located high up in the hills above Saklikent.

With the help of a kind sponsor the charity had also had a central heating system installed at the school.

Now that the roof has been replaced and the school is slowly drying out there are many items of furniture and much needed equipment that the school needs.

The 3C’s had been in discussion with Keith Campbell, owner of the popular Çalış Beach Forum website and were aware that he was looking for a poor local school to support as the subject of the CBF charity project for 2012. They suggested that Bozalan School might be suitable.

The tandem CBF/3C’s project was launched two weeks ago and they are both pleased with the response and support from forum members and local supporters.

The 3C’s who have visited the remote school on several occasions have been provided with a wish list by the school staff and they will purchase items off this list as the money is raised by CBF.

Forum members can choose to purchase a specific item on the list or they can contribute towards one of the larger items.

The forum is also auctioning a signed Northampton Saints rugby ball to raise money for the school.

Also last week two lady members of the 3C’s organized a well attended coffee morning at the new Bostans Hotel in Çalış to raise money for the CBF project.

Many local residents and craftspeople attended and many donated plant cuttings, home-made cakes and other items to be sold at the event.

Said CBF’s Keith Campbell “If this project goes well, I would hope to have a CBF special project every year – perhaps with one of the other charities each year”
