There was a right old “knees up” at the Nil Bar recently when the Çalış Children’s Charity “rolled out the barrel” for their “Rockney” fundraising night in aid of local kids.
There was no “dilly dallying on the way” as over 80 people crowded into the popular Çalış bar “The Jack and Jill” (Nil) for a great cockney sing along, east end grub of pie, mash, peas and liquor and dancing to the great music of DJ Gordon.
Many people entered the spirit of the event by dressing up in flat caps and mufflers and one pearly queen had even spent hours sewing pearl buttons onto her dress in the pattern of the famous Çalış sunset!
The highlight of the evening was when members of the 3C’s invited everyone to take a walk down Lambeth Way with them as they performed a song and dance routine to a medley of old time favourites.
With a raffle and a donation of 4TL being donated from each meal by Nil hosts Angel and Serdal, the successful night raised over 700TL for the charity which helps fund projects for children in the Çalış /Fethiye area.
Theme nights with “for one night only entertainment” are fast becoming a signature event of the 3C’s and tickets for Rockney sold out within 6 days.
Their next event is the Roman themed Toga Roma Party on 20 April so if you want to go please make sure you book early.
