A local ladies group helps deliver a new Mother & Baby Room at the Üzümlü Health Centre.

Friday 1st July 2011 marked the official opening of a new facility at the Üzümlü Health Centre.

Our photo below shows two of the members of the Group, together with one of the doctors working at Üzümlü Health Centre where the Group have funded a new Mother & Baby Room.

In fact in lieu of the Mayor, who sent his apologies, the doctor photographed got to cut the ribbon on the room – the door of which is embellished with a nice plaque in Turkish and English, so everyone knows who worked to create this room.

You can just see part of the ribbon behind the figures in the picture.

The Üzümlü Ladies' Group was only set up in February this year and they now run a website: www.uzumlu-voice.com; hold monthly quiz nights; participate in the local Turkish ladies' monthly craft fair and are committed to supporting the community of Üzümlü.

Refurbishing the room in the Health Centre cost around 2,500TL and they are still looking for a small air con unit, either new or secondhand, to put the finishing touch to their Mother & Baby Room.
