Traders Fear Downturn Due to Ticket Price Hike at Patara Beach nr Kalkan

An entrance ticket price hike to the world renowned beach and ruins will damage business claims village leader.

The entrance to Patara ruins and Beach

Owners of restaurants and cafes in Patara village are not happy.

Apparently on 1st April the ticket system for the Patara site and beach was changed from a 5TL ticket valid for one week, to 5TL for each entry.

The village muhtar (leader) told the press last week that under the old system tourists would spend the morning on the beach, come back to the village for lunch, then go down to the beach again.

“Now that costs them 10TL on top of the cost of lunch as they have to buy entry tickets twice!” he added.

The village have appealed to the Ministry of Culture and the travel agents’ umbrella organisation TURSAB and are keeping their fingers crossed for a return to the old system.
