The Mayor of Ölüdeniz, Kerametin Yılmaz, announced to the press that the dolphin pool in the resort town of Hisarönü near Oludeniz would be closed down very shortly.

Officials from the Ministry of Health visited the pool a couple of weeks ago and took blood samples from the dolphins.
The samples have now been fully analysed and show the dolphins health to be far from satisfactory, with kidney problems featuring prominently.
Accordingly the Ministry has said it is not safe for people to swim with the dolphins, and the Council will be closing down the facility.
The Mayor went on to say that a rehabilitation centre for the dolphins was currently being established.
