Special event in English on Friday 2nd July

Called ‘I Have a Story’ an audience with Cevdet will take place at the back of the Sanat Evi in Ovacık at 9.30pm on Friday.

Astute readers may recognise the photo of Cevdet Cantürk who is anchor man on a weekly TV show on TRT. Cevdet has worked in television in Turkey for many years on a range of travel and current affairs programmes. This has taken him all over Turkey visiting places which few other people ever bother to go to.

He has been a great supporter of the Ölüdeniz Folk Dance Group, now known as the Ingiliz Yarenler, as can be seen in the photo where he is preparing to interview them on a trip they made to the Black Sea earlier this year.

Now Cevdet, who speaks excellent English, has had the bright idea of staging an event as part of the Ölüdeniz Festival at which he will tell stories of some of the places he has visited and quirky people he has met – and it will be in English.

Called ‘I Have a Story’ the audience with Cevdet will take place at the back of the Sanat Evi in Ovacık at 9.30pm on Friday. He plans to illustrate the talk with projected photos, and you have to admire him for going to all this trouble to give a free talk.

So get on down to the Sanat Evi on Friday evening. Cevdet says he will be pleased if 50 people turn up.

We say we can do better than that, so turn up and prove us right.
