Classical Concert Fills The House

The classical concert held at the Fethiye Cultural Centre on Thursday evening in aid of the Calis Carnival was a great success and has paved the way for similar events in the future.

The special cultural evening featured mezzo soprano Ferda Yetişer from Ankara, Cello player Özgür Elgün from Bursa and local harpist Bahar Kınış Tuğlar.

They played a range of well known pieces ranging from Air on a G String to the enchanting Ave Maria and all un-plugged; there was no electronic amplification.

The one and a half hour set was very popular with the audience who gave them a standing ovation at the end.

The trio were then awarded certificates and commemorative Fethiye plates by the Kaymakam.

Dilec Dincer of FETAV thanked the trio and the audience for the special evening and said that other events would be held in the future.

The stage was decorated by the Pera Organisation and sponsors included PUS, Bay Piyano, Fethiye Belediye, FETAV, Land of Lights, Iz Music and Ata School. Calis Carnival paid the travel and accomodation costs of the artists and the net proceeds from the ticket sales will go to the Carnival charity funds.
