Visiting quiz team The Swallows, from the Swallows Restaurant in Hisaronu, flew away with the Çalış Carnival Quiz Challenge Cup at the annual quiz championship held last Friday evening.

Twelve quiz teams, many representing local bars, and their supporters packed into the Orient Express Restaurant in Çalış last Friday night in an attempt to win the coveted title of Çalış Carnival Quiz Champions 2010.

The general knowledge quiz of eight subject rounds and a picture round of logos tested the teams to the limit.

But at the end of the evening there was only one point between the winning team The Swallows and the second placed team called The Koşem Krew (very hip!).

Last years champions Cafe Pazar came third with Mutlu Crue (different spelling) close behind.

The Wooden Spoon was awarded to the aptly named team “Who’d have Thought it”.

It was a good night for The Swallows as not only did they win the cup and a round of drinks but one of their team also won the bottle of rum in the roll a lira game.

The Swallows team will now keep the cup to display in their bar for one year.

No doubt the Çalış teams will be anxious to win it back again next year and cerebral training will resume shortly.
