Over 150 people crowded in to the Golden Moon Hotel on Friday for Çalış’s own Children In Need night and a heap of cash was raised for the Carnival Charity too.

Held to coincide with the BBC “Children in Need” charity marathon in the UK, the event organized by the Çalış Carnival Committee raised over 800 lira for local disadvantaged children.

The madcap evening kicked off with music from the talented youngsters from Sanart Music School in Fethiye who entertained the crowds with a wide range of music from classical to rock.

Tommy Turtle, the carnival mascot, then made a guest appearance and presented the children with carnival baseball caps.

Throughout the evening fun event followed fun event as guests were invited to take part in silly games of Bat a Rat, Giant Jenga, apple bobbing, guess the sweets and a doughnut eating competition.

There was an adult quiz of children’s questions, Killer Pool and a re-creation of the Double or Drop game from the 60’s children’s UK TV programme Crackerjack complete with cabbages and Crackerjack pens!

The party then got going until the small hours as singers Lisa and Dennis Davey got everyone up dancing and led the karaoke.

There was also a raffle for a 3 course meal donated by the Mosaic Bahçe Restaurant in Fethiye and a Pudsey look-alike bear and brandy.
