Total Eclipse for Southern Turkey - March 2006

March 29th 2006 provides people living in and visiting Southern Turkey the chance to see to see that rare thing - a total eclipse - where the moon moves into line with sun and creates a day time night.

The total eclipse will create a shadow over the earth  starting in Brazil and moving across the world over to Africa then moving North West into the Southern Mediterranean, Turkey and on to countries in the former USSR.

In Southern Turkey the shadow area will stretch from Patara right around the the other side of Alanya. If you are watching at Kale the total eclipse will begin at 10.54 am and will last for 3 minutes 40 seconds. Areas outside this area will be able to see a partial eclipse. For a map of the eclipse path see here.

So, get your place on the coast marked out to see this unique event.
