According to the contractors the new International Terminal at Dalaman Airport will now be open for service during June.

At a press briefing back in February the contractors said that the new terminal would be ready in April for the start of this year’s tourist season. Confusingly the contractors are now saying that they have completed the project 8 months ahead of schedule. Either way if the terminal opens in June it should provide international passengers with a faster and more efficient service and enhanced facilities including new restaurants, bars, shops and service outlets.

The new terminal at 157,000sqm is 5 times bigger than the present terminal and has the capacity to handle 10 million passengers annually - last year the airport handled 1,461,768 passengers. The press were invited to see the new terminal and report on the progress of the works at the end of May and a demonstration of the ground handling contractors testing out baggage handling equipment and electronic ticketing machines ready for the first arrivals was carried out.
