British ambassador visits injured British tourists

British ambassador to Turkey Peter Westmacott visited the injured British tourists in two hospitals today after the explosion that tore through a minibus around midnight in the Turkish southwestern resort of Marmaris. The British ambassador visited the private hospitals Ahu Hetman Hospital and Caria Hospital first to see the 10 injured Britons being treated there. He was informed of their condition and heard details of the explosion.

Prior to his visit, Westmacott made a brief statement to local reporters saying "I would like to say a big thank you to all the staff here at the hospitals, and to all the emergency services here in Marmaris, who clearly did a magnificent job in operating very quickly very efficiently in looking after these British victims of this terrible attack. And I would like to say how grateful I am to everyone for the extraordinary help that they have given us."
