Paraglider Crash in Olüdeniz

On Saturday 21st April a tandem paragliding pair began to lose altitude a after covering a mere 100m following their launch from Babadağ at 3pm. The professional parachutist was flying in tandem with a bank employee, both of them Turkish, and the pair fell to rocks below in a place inaccessible from road or beach, both of them breaking legs on impact.

Fortunately they were able to call the jandarma using a mobile phone and, after visiting the scene, the jandarma called out a military helicopter from Dalaman.  The helicopter managed to rescue the two injured parachutists and flew them to Fethiye Government Hospital for treatment.

By 6pm the pair were pronounced stable and the passenger was quoted as saying “We started to fall and I don’t remember anything else until we hit the rocks.”

If you must paraglide from Babadağ don’t forget your mobile phone.
