As you know Fethiye Times has been eagerly following the (slow) progress on the alleged ski resort being created above Seki.  Well we can tell you that the resort has now been under construction for 9 years and won’t be open until the ski lift, for which foundations were laid 3 years ago, is completed.

The province of Mugla, which had set aside 500 thousand YTL as this year’s contribution to the construction of the resort, has now been informed that a minimum of 2 million YTL is needed to complete the infrastructure.  So with a 1.5 million YTL gap to be filled it could be a few more years before commercial skiing finally comes to a mountain near Fethiye.

The mayor of Seki claims that completion of the ski resort will enable tourists to ski in the morning and drive down to Fethiye in the afternoon for a swim in the sea.  Fethiye Times can see the mountains where the resort is located on a daily basis and it seems to us that there is only sufficient snow for skiing from late December to early April (in a good year) – would you swim in those months?
