Council Sweet Inspectors
Even though there was still a full week of Ramazan to go, Fethiye Council’s Health & Safety Inspectors visited all cake shops in the town at the beginning of the week to check on hygiene, equipment and production techniques ahead of Seker Bayram – when more sweets are sold than at any other time of the year. Two shops were found wanting and had to pay fines. The rest sailed through with flying colours so you can safely gorge on baklava in the week ahead.
Sadly we have to report the death of two British residents of Fethiye: Barbara Seager and W. Ottoway who were killed when their hire car, driven by Barbara, crashed into a minibus on the Denizli – Muğla highway on Thursday 25 September. The eleven passengers on the bus suffered slight injuries. The Police are investigating the incident.
And the ơlış Carnival Committee met this week to start organising next year’s event which will take place on May 23rd 2009.
Fethiye Web Cams
Meanwhile Fethiye Belediye has webcams up in various spots around the town. To take a look go to www.fethiye.bel.tr and on the lefthand sidebar you will see a photo of the main road into Fethiye with ‘Canlı Yayın Izle’ written underneath it. Just click on the photo and you will get snapshots views from various webcams………….there is one showing the dolphin roundabout in ơlış so readers in that area could go down to the junction and wave at friends who are watching the webcam – something to fill all those hours in the winter maybe?
