Booze Ban this Sunday

This Sunday will be a dry day.

This is not due to the weather but because the local elections are taking place.

The whole country will be on tenterhooks as the various political parties make their last attempts to get citizens to vote for them.

According to Turkish law alcohol may not be sold or served during the polling station opening times.

This means that your favourite watering hole as well as all shops and supermarkets will be unable to sell you booze.

Of course, this being Turkey, it doesn’t necessarily follow that all establishments will comply!
