Obituary – Pat Johnstone

Mrs. Pat Johnstone, wife of Chris Johnstone, who used to live in Ovacik, died at their UK home in Canford Cliffs, Dorset on May 24th.

She was 67.

The funeral will be at 1.20pm on 12th of June.

Chris and Pat were very well known in both the English and Turkish communities; Chris was a committee member of FIG and Pat was a regular helper on FIG’s fund-raising activities.

Pat was also a member of the Garden Club and hosted one of the club’s meeting’s shortly after its foundation.

Pat was a very keen gardener and their half-acre plot was beautifully cared for by her.

The couple would have celebrated their 40th wedding anniversary next month.

Pat and her husband left Turkey eighteen months ago when it became obvious her health needed urgent investigation.

After a  series of tests including two long stays at the National Hospital for Neurology in London, Pat was diagnosed with Motor Neurone Disease, at the end of August last year.

The funeral service will be in her native Derbyshire and, after cremation, her ashes will be brought to Turkey to be scattered on the Mendos Mountains, a favourite spot of hers just above where Chris and Pat used to live.

No flowers are needed but those who would wish to remember Pat are invited to make a donation in her name to FIG.

Friends in the UK are being asked to make a donation to the Motor Neurone Disease Association.

If friends care to contact Chris his mobile number is 0044 7849 419150.
