As many of you are aware, the village wing are keen gardeners.
Well actually the female half doesn’t dig but loves looking at gardens and buying plants, not to mention tickling around with container gardening using small hand tools.
The male half is a serious, soil on wellies, spade in hand, major gardener.
This is our fifth season of gardening in Turkey and, we believe due to the excessive rain last winter, we are inundated with weeds.
Indeed, seeds which have lain dormant in the soil for so long they could have been of interest to archaeologists, have germinated and are multiplying practically as we watch.
A friend who gardens in Ovacık swears by the time she gets to the end of weeding a small border, the weeds at the beginning are growing again.
What’s your experience?
Have you noticed a sharp increase in growth and variety of weeds this year?
Do you think it’s due to last winter’s rains?
