Purse Snatcher Arrested
The local press reported that a 22 year old man who was arrested last week on suspicion of burgling two homes in the Foca area of Fethiye and for snatching a purse had 44 previous convictions.
When the Police arrested the man they found an iPad, camera and two pairs of shoes in his possession.
It was reported that the man confessed to the crimes and was later sentenced by the court to prison.
Search for Missing Brits Turns Up Unexpected Find
The Jandarma were called out on Wednesday evening when two British holiday makers who had gone for a walk failed to return to their hotel.
During their search they were called to do another search.
A British speaking person had contacted an emergency numbers and said he was in the Katranci – Fethiye area but was lost and needed help.
When the Jandarma team got to Katrancı Bay they found a group of illegal immigrants from Afghanistan, Iran and Syria who were all waiting for a boat to take them to the Greek Island of Rhodes.
The teams searched the area and found other people waiting to catch a boat and also a 46 year old injured Palestinian man.
The two Brits were later found and taken to hospital to be treated for dehydration.
Belgian Tourist Rescued
And there was another Jamdarma to the rescue story later in the week.
A Belgian tourist who was walking with a group along the Lykian Way behind Karagozler twisted his ankle and could not walk.
His group called the 112 ambulance team but they could not locate the walkers in the woods behind the Fethiye ship yard.
The emergency teams called the Jandarma who came to the rescue, located the walkers and helped the medical team to carry out the injured walker for treatment in hospital.
Head on Collision 2 Dead, 3 Injured
Two cars involved in a head on the Oludeniz -Fethiye road near Ovacik on Saturday left both drivers dead and three passengers injured.
Rescue and medical teams freed the drivers and passengers from the wreckage and all were taken to hospital.
Unfortunately the drivers did not survive.
A tractor that crashed in the village of Kadikoy near Seydikemer left one person dead and another injured last week.
Two farmers were returning from shopping at the weekly market in the small village of Kadikoy near Seydikemer when the tractor they were travelling on left the road and dropped into a deep water channel near the town centre.
Despite the intervention of medical teams and help from people at the scene the driver died.
The British Pound bought 3.51 Turkish Lira. The week before it was 3.50 Turkish Lira.
Around three hundred police, security and other people who are authorised to carry a gun for their work took part in a week long target practice event at the shooting range in Karachula last week.
