Brilliant sunshine, bumper crowds and 115 stalls made the 2014 Calis Spring Craft Fair and Street Market last Sunday one of the best ever.

The popular annual event, now in its seventh year, was organized by Çalış based children’s charity, the 3C’s.

Crafts people from across the Mugla area set up their wares on both sides of the main street in Çalış between the Dolphin junction and the water taxi bridge, which had been closed to traffic for the day.

Tourists and locals had a great time perusing the huge range of crafts and handmade goods on sale which varied from driftwood art, ceramics, leather work, appliqué, wood and marble items to hand-made soaps, jewelery, garden ornaments, cards, soft toys, home-made jams and preserves and all kinds of paintings.

There were also several local charity stalls raising money for their good causes as well as a stall selling T shirts, ribbons and CD’s by local singer Paul Wynter, to raise money for the families of the victims of the recent Soma Mine disaster.

The 3C’s raised just under 4,000 TL for their charity, after paying for the fair overheads, and would like to thank everyone who attended and supported the event.
