Security Measures for the Holiday Season
The Security services introduced a 24/7 road block on the road in and out of Ovacik last week as the holiday season started.
The Jandarma teams working around the clock will check vehicles, contents and drivers credentials in an effort to prevent any terror attack on the popular resorts of Ovacik and Oludeniz.
The press also said that the checks are also designed to deter other types of travelling criminals who may move in and out of the area during the holiday season.
This is also a reminder that tourists should always carry identification in case it is required by the Turkish authorities.
Enduro Came to Town
Fethiye is now an established Enduro bike destination and last week the town hosted the 2nd leg of the annual championship with races and trials.
The event attracted a large crowd of spectators at the Esen motorcycle area.
Over 130 riders took part in the event.
The local press were in X-Files mode at the weekend when a Paraglider recorded a UFO above Oludeniz.
The 62 year old Chemical Engineer Celal Toprakçı was on holiday in the popular resort with his family.
He was watching the paragliders in the sky when he noticed a bright green circle of light moving from east to west.
The press interviewed him and told him that a Turkish Airlines plane flying between Istanbul and Bodrum had also reported a similar ‘thing’ in the sky.
The mystery continues.

Fethiye vocational college welcomed 15 new students at their premises last week to learn laundry skills.
The 15 are all prisoners on probation who are learning the new skills to help as part of their rehabilitation and return to society.
The course will last 32 days.
The British Pound rallied against the Turkish Lira last week ending at 4.32 TL to the Pound.
At one point during the week it hit 4.39 TL.
A Turkish Lira was worth 23 Pence.
More unsettled weather, rain and thunder is forecast for next week.
This years 3Cs Spring Fair will be held on Sunday May 29th in Çalış. All the funds raised are used for projects helping local children and families.
The Fair opens to the public from 11am.
As always there will be a multitude of stalls offering all sorts of wonderful goodies, ranging from arts and crafts to delicious locally made cheeses.
