A Turkish professor has found no less than 108 festivals celebrate fruit and veg across the Turkish nation.

We all know the joy of being able to buy wonderful fresh fruit and vegetables here but recently Professor Semih Çağlar, of the Faculty of Agriculture at Kahramanmaraş University has published a list of all the festivals held annually across the nation to celebrate individual fruits, vegetables and nuts.

And there are a lot of them.

That’s no less than 108 festivals in total and we have news for the Professor.

Whilst we have listed numbers of festivals, the original press release gave the names of the places where the festivals take place.

Our local cherry festival was included, but he missed the annual Arsa village Apple Festival, and the Kumluova Tomato Festival. which makes us think he could have missed others.

And why are there no festivals for the potato or onion? Let alone garlic? Maybe one day.
