A Strange Thing Happened...

....While I was waiting to get the gas checked on my car this year in Fethiye...

So there I am, sitting in the queue for the gas test (the village wing’s aged Kartal is in biennial Visa mode at the moment) in Fethiye market place on a gloomy Wednesday afternoon.

I get out of the car to stretch my legs and what do I see?

A man with a bill hook cutting grass and putting it into a sack.

I wonder if it’s for a sheep or a goat.

He spots me watching him and says,

“It’s for my sheep.”

Then he looks and he asks which is my car and when he hears it’s the Kartal he says:

“I’ve got one of those what year is yours?”

I reply “1991” and he smiles and says

“Ahh, mine’s 1994”.

He poses for the photo and carries on cutting grass along the road.

Just another one of those surreal yet delightful encounters one often experiences in Turkey!
